What do you have there?
Oh, Hey Cory Doctorow. It's just a computer tablet I picked up to help me with school work.
Neat. I have one of those. I turned it into a network point that gathers all the nearby wireless traffic and routes it away from NSA blackbox surveillance sites.
Oh.. I've mostly been using mine to play games so far.
That's cool. I'm a level 300 mecha-paladin in an indie online RPG. My underground counter-police-state activists and I also use it to share secret messages using a code that incorporates the number of steps your character takes in a particular direction with their armour colour. I wrote a program that runs in the background that deciphers the message and texts it to a secret partition on your phone.
I've mostly been playing Bejewelled this week.
Oooo, do you mean that open-source Bejewelled mod that combines the random generation of gems on each level with your moves to encrypt your outgoing email traffic?
...no...just, you know, regular Bejewelled.
Oh.
Yeah.

Doctorow

New comic. Look, Cory, I know I'm using my technology lazily. I'm sorry I'm SUCH A DISAPPOINTMENT TO YOU. YOU'RE NOT MY REAL DAD ANYWAY.
