Hey everyone!
A year ago I completed a Master's Degree in Information Studies. I focussed on human centric design, identity, privacy, and usability.
My last paper was called 'Other' - it was on how people are classified, and the consequences of being hard to define.
Because my prof was cool, I was permitted to submit this paper as a long form comic.
I got an A, but more importantly, I was really pleased with the work.
I posted a link to the PDF Robot Hugs a while ago, but I've always wanted to make that paper into a set of comics.
So this week I'm going to be modifying the paper, and posting it here as a series of comics.
Basically, it's an overview of the subject of social classification, intended to make some abstract concepts more accessible. (Identity, Surveillance, Anonymity, Othering).
So check back tomorrow for the first installment. I hope you like it, and thanks for your patience!

Notice

New comic! NOTE: I spelled the name of my degree wrong. This doesn't inspire confidence, but in my defense, I've been drawing for about 7 hours by the time I scratched up this comic. ANOTHER NOTE: I'm trying out hand lettering my comics, and I know readability is suffering right now, bear with me until I fiddle around enough to the right pens and guides to make it work.  If you're having a lot of trouble, the transcript is always below :) Trying something different this week. Let's see hot it goes! First section goes up tomorrow, with an accompanying blog post talking about the concepts I was trying to capture.
